Brief
Studio A is a Sydney-based supported studio that provides professional pathways for artists with intellectual disabilities, helping them become successful and renowned visual artists. Since 2022, I’ve supported Studio A through volunteer work and design projects. For this particular project, Studio A collaborated with NESA to create a series of educational resource documents based on the practices of six of their artists. These documents are designed for primary school teachers to incorporate into their lesson plans.

Since 2022, I’ve supported Studio A through volunteer work and design projects. For this particular project, Studio A collaborated with NESA to create a series of educational resource documents based on the practices of six of their artists. These documents are designed for primary school teachers to incorporate into their lesson plans.
My task was to design and layout these documents as PDFs, ensuring they are accessible, easy to read, and in line with Studio A’s playful branding.
Strategy
Studio A’s iconic branding includes a slab serif font for their logo, which I used throughout the document to maintain consistency with their identity. For the body text, I selected a sans serif font to enhance legibility. The black and white color palette, in line with their style guide, ensures the focus remains on the artworks, which take center stage as the hero images.
A key challenge in this project was transforming a table-based format with large amounts of segmented information into something clean, readable, and visually engaging. To solve this, I employed a minimal, structured layout that prioritized clarity and ease of reading.
These PDFs were designed with both digital and print formats in mind, considering how teachers would interact with the documents in a classroom setting.
